Bolivia Day 4

March 7, 2010

Today is our fourth day here in Bolivia, and it will be a little slower paced than the last few. We have two more services this afternoon to photograph but other than that, it's our day to catch up on sleep and rest.

Friday we were mostly documenting the construction work going on at the mission home. But that evening we were able to spend time at the orphanage here in Guayaramerin. We were given a tour of the facilities, and then they made us home-made pizza! It broke our hearts to see the children, but we were so glad Love in Action has built such a facility to love and teach these children. If it wasn't for the Bolivian government not allowing US families to adopt the kids, I have a feeling Jackie would have taken them all home : )

Yesterday we had an unbelievable opportunity to take a boat up the pacaas novas river to spend the day with an indigenous indian tribe in Brazil. It was a four hour trip one way through the Amazon Jungle. Tom Ferrel is the missionary that is working with the tribe and working on translating the bible into their language (He was our guide through the jungle and our translator). The people in the village were so friendly, everyone was waiting by the river for us to arrive. The children absolutely loved seeing their pictures on our cameras. They thought it was the greatest thing to pose and then run back to see what they looked like.

Many years ago these people were cannibalistic, and now there is a growing number of believers among them. Tom has started a church that is now pastored by one of the tribesmen. God is doing great things here. Continue to pray for the people in the Amazon Basin, and that everyone on our team remains healthy and stays safe. Also that we can raise the rest of the support needed for the trip.
